Open House in the old schoolhouse of Eskifjörður with Worldwide Friends |

Last two weeks in the Eskifjörður residence at the old schoolhouse have been really interesting! After we made a little bit of renovation by five of us, Reeli, Martin, Stepan, Katka and Lisa the new EVS people arrived and joined us, Olga, Renee, Marta and Celestino. Somehow at random moments ideas were starting to appear. In one evening Stepan and Katka sat at front of our little library, a bookshelf where there are many valuable Icelandic books that we don't use and came to an idea to give them away to local people. From that idea grew another one, to organize some kind of event for that and this is how the Open House Day in the old school was born. Later we found out that we can not give the books away because there is an owner of these books. Still we wanted to make the event just to present Worldwide Friends, volunteering and our activity in Eskifjörður, to offer some snacks and drinks and to just let them see the „new“ old schoolhouse and meet us because we have the feeling that people in Eskifjörður know who we are but they don't know what we are doing here. Let's give them a chance to find out!

We are proud to present the teaser from the documentary movie we have been filming recently in Raufarhofn!
Documentary project about the impact of international volunteering in isolated rural areas in the northeastern part of Iceland. The Documentary film take place in the village of Raufarhofn with the cooperation of Worldwidefriends Iceland volunteers and The Tracker Company.
The intention of this project is to let the world know about this situation and therefore to promote the beauty and the wonders of these people and their village.
This is a non profit project.
