From Hveragerđi to Keflavik
On Monday 27th of August we moved from lovely place of Hveragerđi. We finished the Blooming festival with 2 hours long exhibition (more about this exhibition in next news...:))!! In the morning we were placing all our stuff into bus at least one hour. But the optimistic icelandic bus driver with a big smile on his face put all his effort into it and that´s why we managed to put all the luggage, mattresses, drums, big drums from garbage, people, food, ... without renting another car. When we came we all were quite tired because of previous exhausting week in Hveragerđi. We had little problem with kitchen in our new accommodation but after some while we got a bigger one, so the Dutch people could start cooking their traditional food. We all enjoyed the meal and also the presentation about water managment from Anna, or about famous dutch flowers tulips from Remco, or we listened to a catchy song from Mirjam and Evanne (oh, we´re so Dutch...). New festival is waiting for us here in Keflavik, so we all are really curious how it´s gonna be... Cultural night of Reykjavik     With a lot of enthusiasm, which we carried all along the way from Gunnarsholmi from all the artistical workshops, we arrived in Reykjavik early in the morning. It was our first official performance and that's why we were quite nervous, but really motivated and willing to show that in just few hours we were ready to perform live for the visitors of the festival.     The groups spread into two different places and our mimes were everywhere. Moving all the time with their sweet "black&white" smiles, they took attention of everyone, while the grooves of percussions together with the dancer Sonia Sampayo were preparing for their performances. The "face painting group" has chosen a spot and small children and also older people approached us with a really nice result in their cute Icelandic faces.     The performances were great and we tried to combine spectacle with knowledge providing joy at the crowd, doing at the same time workshops. The "percussions' group" had 3 performances combining African and Arabic sounds. Some of the instruments were made out of recycled material provided by the recycling platform of Reykjavik. Keeping and promoting environment clean is also one of the aims of this project.   Our experienced dancer Sonia had the chance to do live workshops with a lot of people in the square. The theatre group performed at the same square later on the afternoon, creating a half-hour theatrical play based on a multicultural exchange and different backgrounds. The main theme was based on improvisations of our daily life here in Iceland. Story by Lef. All news |
