French days in Fáskrúðsfjörður

I was my third vacations in Iceland but this time was really the best. I spent over two weeks preparing the French Festival in the community in Fáskrúðsfjörður. The workcamps "French days in Fáskrúðsfjörður" was first workcamps in which I took part. The daily work involved preparation of stand with original French dishes, playing theatre and singing "chansons de marine". Nobody of us was an experienced singer or actor so you can imagine how funny it was. After Festival which was a real success we spent time cleaning the cost line.
To get together with in Icelandic Community and Icelandic people was very interesting and new for me. Every year I was staying on the camping site where it was impossible to experience how people live and work on this amazing island. This time I wasn't an outsider and although the language sound for me a little gibberish I managed to "communicate in Icelandic" - using the dictionary and " sign language" of course. The inhabitants of Fáskrúðsfjörður help to organize our spare time. We visited imposing volcano mountain Snaefell with rescue team (thanks a lot!), was on a trip in a real Fischer boat, heard in the dense fog shrieking Puffins.
If some one of you is considering taking part in the project it is really worth it.
